Privacy Policy
Nook for Mac, early preview ยท Effective 11 September 2026
In short: Nook connects your existing mail accounts directly from your Mac. There is no Nook account and no Nook server. Your mail, drafts and passwords stay on your Mac, and nothing about them is sent to Nook's maker or anyone else.
Who makes Nook
Nook is an independent email client made by Prerak Gada. This policy covers the Nook for Mac early preview downloaded from nook.prerakgada.in and this website.
What Nook stores, and where
- Your mail and drafts. Account settings, downloaded messages and attachments, drafts, the outbox and local backups are kept in Nook's data folder on your Mac.
- Passwords and sign-in tokens. App passwords and Google sign-in tokens are kept in your Mac's Keychain. They are never written to Nook's database, logs or backups.
- Preferences. Layout, colour and similar settings are kept on your Mac.
None of this is uploaded to Nook's maker. Nook contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code.
What Nook connects to
- Your mail providers' servers (for example Gmail, iCloud or Zoho), over encrypted connections, to receive, organise and send your mail.
- Google's sign-in services, when you choose Sign in with Google, to authorise Nook and to confirm your Google account's email address and name.
- Web pages you choose to open in your browser, such as a provider's help page.
Remote images and active content inside emails are blocked, so opening a message does not tell senders that you read it.
Google user data
If you sign in with Google, Nook requests access to your Gmail (https://mail.google.com/) and to your basic profile (your email address and name).
- Nook uses this data only to show, search, organise, compose and send your own mail inside Nook on your Mac, at your direction.
- The data stays on your Mac. It is not transferred to Nook's maker or to any third party, not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to train AI models. No person reads your mail.
- You can remove Nook's access at any time from your Google Account under Your connections.
Nook's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Deleting your data
- Disconnecting an account in Nook deletes its saved password or Google sign-in token from your Keychain.
- Downloaded mail stays until you delete Nook's data folder. Nook shows it under Settings โ Offline & storage โ Show data folder.
- Deleting Nook's data folder removes everything Nook stored. Your mail at your provider is not affected.
This website
nook.prerakgada.in is a static site hosted by Vercel. It uses no analytics or advertising cookies. Your colour and appearance choices are saved in your own browser. Like any web host, Vercel processes standard request information, such as IP addresses, to deliver the site. If you send feedback through the contact page, what you send is used only to reply to you.
Children
Nook is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If Nook gains features that send data off your Mac, such as sync across devices or hosted AI, this policy will be updated before those features are used. Changes are posted on this page with a new effective date.
