Delete your Nook account
Nook Mail for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android and the web, made by Prerak Gada
In short: open Nook on your iPhone, iPad or Android, go to Settings → Accounts & identities → Delete Nook account…, enter your Nook password and confirm. Your account and everything Nook's server holds for it are deleted straight away. You can also do this in Nook on the web, or ask by email. Nook for Mac can't delete a Nook account, so use one of these. Your mail at Gmail, Zoho, iCloud or any other provider is not touched.
In the Nook app (iPhone, iPad or Android)
- Open Nook and make sure you are signed in to the account you want to delete.
- Open Settings, then Accounts & identities.
- Choose Delete Nook account….
- Enter your Nook password and choose Delete account.
On the web, without the app
- Go to nook-app.prerakgada.in and sign in with your Nook email address and password.
- Open Settings, then Accounts & identities.
- Choose Delete Nook account…, enter your password and choose Delete account.
Forgotten your password? Choose Forgot password? on the sign-in screen to set a new one first, or use the email route below.
By email
Email prerak@engaze.in from the address you use to sign in to Nook, with the subject “Delete my Nook account”. Prerak will reply to confirm the request came from you, and the account is deleted as soon as possible, and no later than 30 days after that confirmation. You will get an email when it is done. Never send your password.
What is deleted
Deleting your Nook account permanently removes, from Nook's server:
- your Nook account: your email address, password hash and signed-in sessions and devices;
- every mail account in your Nook account, whether you connected it on a phone or the web or added it from a Mac, with its saved password or sign-in token;
- the copy of your mail Nook kept: messages, attachments, drafts, scheduled and outgoing mail, set-aside and snoozed items, categories and category rules;
- your synced settings: signatures, templates, smart folders and mail preferences;
- any AI provider keys and AI settings you added;
- the push tokens and notification settings for your devices, so notifications stop.
When you delete from the app or the web, Nook also clears its offline copy of your mail on that device. Mail downloaded to another phone or browser stays in that app's storage until you delete the app there or clear the browser's data for Nook. A Mac that was signed in to the account keeps its own mail accounts, their passwords or sign-ins in its Keychain, and the mail it downloaded; it just stops syncing. This cannot be undone: to use Nook again you create a new account and connect your mail again.
What is kept, and for how long
- Backups. Encrypted hourly backups made before the deletion expire within 30 days, and the server's own database snapshots within 14 days. They are not used to restore a deleted account.
- Your mail at your providers. Gmail, Zoho, iCloud and other mailboxes are yours and are never touched. To also remove Nook's access there, revoke it in your provider's security settings (for Google, under Your connections) or delete the app password you made for Nook.
- Feedback you sent. Messages sent through Report a Problem… or Send Feedback… are stored separately and are not linked to your Nook account. To have them deleted too, say so in your email.
Not the same as deleting your account
- Deleting the app or signing out leaves your Nook account and its mail on Nook's server.
- Disconnecting a mail account stops its sync and deletes its saved password or sign-in, but mail already copied from it stays in your Nook account until you remove that account from all devices or delete your Nook account.
- Remove from all devices, in Settings → Accounts & identities, deletes one mail account from your Nook account: Nook's server deletes its saved password or sign-in and its copy of that account's mail straight away, and every device signed in to your Nook account removes it. Your Nook account and its other mail accounts stay.
- Nook for Mac stores nothing on Nook's server unless you sign in to a Nook account on it. Signing out on the Mac leaves your Nook account, and the accounts the Mac added to it, as they are; delete the Nook account from a phone, the web or by email as above. To remove what Nook keeps on your Mac, disconnect accounts in its Settings and delete its data folder.
